The city of fado, azulejos and light

This beautiful city on the Tagus is both historic and modern, with an intoxicating attitude to life. Like Rome, Lisbon is built on seven hills, which often give the impression that there are only two directions in this city: Uphill and downhill - they are the omnipresent charming companions of your journey, which will demand a bit of fitness from you. And then there are the colourful tiles, the omnipresent fado, the coffee culture, the Moorish heritage, the picturesque alleyways - through which a fresh Atlantic breeze always blows -, the 290 days of sunshine a year and, of course, the river, whose masses of water reflect the sunlight and make Lisbon shine. The oldest city in Western Europe - even before London and Rome - impresses with its diversity.
