Fado – die Sehnsuchtsmusik der Stadt

Emotionaler Ausdruck der Lissabonner Seele! Das Wort Fado kommt aus dem Lateinischen und bedeutet „Schicksal“. Etwas so Schweres und Ernstes wie das Schicksal als Ursprung zu haben, hat seinen Charakter geprägt. Deshalb handelt er so oft von starken Gefühlen, von Liebe und ihrem Ende, von Verrat, Eifersucht, Rache und Unglück. Doch entgegen der landläufigen Meinung ist der Fado nicht immer traurig. Er ist oft frech und bohemienhaft und versteht es wie kein anderer, den Geist seines Volkes zu besingen – der Fischhändler, der Seeleute, der Taugenichtse, der Spitzbuben und letztlich aller Figuren des Lissabonner Nachtlebens.
