Via della Rocca, 1, 53037 San Gimignano SI
In San Gimignano, discover the tradition, history and authentic flavour of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, which grows in the enchanting and atmospheric area of Rocca di Montestaffoli.
A short walk along the city walls leads to the 14th century fortress of La Rocca before leaving the city. From the partially restored fortress, you have a marvellous view of the terraced gardens and olive groves that wind their way down to the vineyards of Vernaccia. The famous white wine Vernaccia, which is even mentioned in Dante's "Divine Comedy", is grown in these vineyards. A glass of Vernaccia di San Gimignano with a view of one of the most impressive landscapes in Tuscany - preferably at sunset - is a unique experience.
Vernaccia di San Gimignano is the first Italian DOC wine with a history of almost a thousand years, having been served on the tables of popes and kings.
