The site of today's Grand Hotel Duchi d'Aosta on the Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia was already built on in the 3rd century, when there was a Roman inn for catering to travellers.
Das 1873 errichtete Hotel, von der Versicherungsgesellschaft Assicurazioni Generali in Auftrag gegeben, ist ein Domizil im mitteleuropäischen Stil, welches das künstlerische und historische Erbe dieser Stadt und dieses Landes weiterträgt. Heute hat es seinen ursprünglichen Glanz wiedererlangt.
Das Hotel verfügt über großzügige, helle, kürzlich renovierte Räume, einige mit zauberhaftem Blick über die Piazza dell’Unità d’Italia und den Golf von Triest. Das Hotel beherbergte berühmte Gäste wie Giacomo Casanova, Bryan Adams, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Charles oder Königin Noor von Jordanien.
