Gelateria Pepino is a famous ice cream parlour in Turin, Italy, which was founded in 1939. It is particularly well known for its traditional, handmade ice cream flavours and its historical significance in the city.

La Gelati Pepino, die älteste Eisdiele im Piemont und eine der ersten in Norditalien, wurde 1884 von Domenico Pepino, einem Eismacher aus Neapel, gegründet. Im Jahr 1916 verkaufte Pepino die Marke und die Rezepte an die beiden Unternehmer Giuseppe Feletti und Giuseppe Cavagnino, die das Unternehmen erneuerten und das Labor vergrößerten. Pepino beliefert auch die königliche Familie.

Im Jahr 1939 erfand und patentierte das Unternehmen den berühmten „Pinguino®“, das erste schokoladenüberzogene Stangeneis der Welt (Patent Nr. 58033). Da das Vanilleeis mit dem dunkelbraunen Schokoladenüberzug aussieht wie ein kleiner Pinguin, trägt es seither diesen Namen. Es wird immer noch mit der gleichen Leidenschaft in sechs verschiedenen Geschmacksrichtungen hergestellt.

Neben den Pinguino-Sticks bietet die Gelateria Pepino auch traditionelles Gelato in Tüten und Bechern an und ist eines der traditionellen Cafés im Stadtzentrum, das gute Optionen für Frühstück, Mittagessen und Aperitivo bietet.

Das mit Schokolade überzogene Eis am Stiel ist nach wie vor das Aushängeschild der Gelateria Pepino, dass in verschiedenen Geschmacksrichtungen (Caffè, Pistacchio, Gianduja, Minze, Haselnuss, Veilchen) angeboten wird und zu dem eine ganze Reihe von kalten Backwaren und traditionellen Eissorten gehören.
