Café Central

Herrengasse 14, 1010 Vienna

Opened in 1876, Café Central is one of the city's best-known and historically most important coffee houses.

One of the most beautiful coffee houses in Vienna

This legendary literary café is an architectural jewel and was opened in 1876 in Palais Ferstel, the "most modern building in Vienna" at the time. The café is famous for its magnificent neo-Renaissance architecture and its tradition as a meeting place for prominent figures in Vienna's cultural and intellectual history. Regular guests included Arthur Schnitzler, Peter Altenberg, Sigmund Freud and Adolf Loos.

Whether breakfast, classic Viennese cuisine or snacks in between, tradition is a top priority in this coffee house.

The in-house patisserie conjures up sweet specialities in the cake display case - we recommend the delicious Café Central cake.
